We preserve DNA—we do not analyze it

DNArchiv does not conduct any genetic testing or analysis.
In particular, this means:

• We do not sequence DNA.

• We do not test for hereditary diseases or health risks.

• We do not determine genetic traits.

• We do not conduct ancestry or kinship testing.

Our work is limited exclusively to extracting the DNA from the submitted sample, preserving it, and placing it on a rough diamond within the piece of jewelry.

Care in the laboratory

We work in accordance with documented scientific and laboratory standards. Protecting the sample and preventing contamination or mix-ups are our highest priorities.
Our principles include:

• clearly defined and documented procedures;

• unambiguous identification of every sample;

• thorough cleaning of the materials used and the rough diamond;

• measures to prevent contamination;

• restricted access to samples;

• controlled processing; and

• documented internal inspections.

We do not publish certain formulations, process parameters, or security-related details.
This protects both our customers and the process we have developed. The individual processing and inspection steps are documented internally.

Is genetic analysis possible at a later date?

In principle, the DNA preserved in the piece of jewelry may technically be used for genetic analysis at a later date. However, such analysis is not part of our services and is neither performed nor arranged by DNArchiv.

Strict requirements apply to subsequent analyses

Anyone wishing to have the preserved DNA analyzed at a later date must contact a suitably qualified and legally authorized provider.
Medical genetic testing is subject in particular to the requirements of the German Genetic Diagnostics Act (GenDG):

• Under Section 7 GenDG, diagnostic genetic testing may only be performed by a physician.

• Before testing, a physician must generally provide the relevant information and separate consent must be obtained in accordance with Sections 8 and 9 GenDG.

• The sample may only be used for the expressly defined purpose of the test.

• Parentage testing is subject to the specific requirements of Section 17 GenDG.

Depending on the purpose of the requested test, additional legal requirements may apply. The legal and professional responsibility for any subsequent analysis lies exclusively with the person or institution conducting it.

Your DNA stays with you

Once production has been completed, the preserved material is contained within the piece of jewelry and is therefore in your possession.
DNArchiv does not retain an additional sample, generate genetic test results, or build a collection of genetic material.
Collection swabs and any consumable materials used are destroyed immediately after processing has been completed.
Our aim is not to reveal genetic information. Our aim is to create a piece of jewelry for you that could not be more personal.
